These Boots Are Made For Walking

I went to see Taylor Swift back in May in Nashville and it was epic. Pretty sure she changed my life. Well she does have that affect on people. I’m just a 40 year old woman living in Taylor’s world and I’m so so so happy about that. I will forever be apart of something happy and positive. Her eras tour is everything and more that a girl could ask for. One of the main reasons I think this woman I don’t know has really become a part of my daily life is that her lyrics are life changing. So many little girls are fans of hers, with good reason. So many people will make fun of you for being a swiftie. But I’m honestly not sure why. Her music is impactful. Her writing is incredible. She is a feminist like myself. She is a smart businesswoman. She is someone to look up to. So why the hate? In a world full of depression, anxiety, fear, and bad politicians, why not dance and sing and laugh and play. Why not dress up with sparkles and wear pink every day? Why not do the things you love to do? I bought these gorgeous sparkly boots last week because A, they are gorgeous and B, they reminded me of Taylor’s concert. And everyone I’ve told about them have instantly judged me for getting them. They have made fun of my sparkly boots. They have poked fun at me for getting them. Why? Because of my age? Because they wouldn’t wear them? It’s confusing to me that something I wanted, something I thought would be fun to wear out, has had such an affect on people. Maybe they arent brave enough or bold enough to wear them. Maybe they think the boots are silly to wear. They are glamorous. They make a statement. They draw attention. But I bought them because I wanted them. That should be all that matters. And when people want to wear what they want and be who they want to be, they shouldn’t be judged for it. Period. My style isn’t your style. We all have our likes and dislikes. No one should be made fun of for what brings them joy. So be the Disney adult, be the swiftie, wear the sparkly boots, wear the glitter, and go have fun.
